But right now the game is just.not very fun. My advice is definitely to wait until (probably also incredibly expensive) expansions or dlc comes out and maybe consider buying then. There is just no way anyone could convince me of it being worth that. I wish I had not pre-ordered and waited to see if this does become the case. This is of course because we were bombarded with expansion packs for the Sims 3, so maybe 4 will become better in the future. Without the open world, the very very basic content seems boring and uneventful.īasically, the game doesn't feel fleshed out, it's boring, the style of the items is a step back, and it feels very empty after having played the Sims 3. There are also window heights! However, while I was building the whole experience was tainted by the fact that the game feels empty. Also awesome was when you apply bordered wallpaper (wallpaper that has corner designs) it automatically applies it to only the corners of your building if you use shift to paint the whole thing at once. One thing that was great however was the ability to have different roof patterns on the same lot. Auto Roof and roof height are gone, as is foundations which is kinda sucky. They are all flat, boring, and with the lack of Create-A-Style, not very dynamic.īuild Mode is very similar to the Sims 3 but with some improvements. There is nothing interesting about the Sims surroundings anymore. It seems so.I don't know, I just absolutely hate it. Their animations are great and the ability to multitask is awesome. The actual Sims themselves are an improvement. Rabbit holes are gone, which means your Sims just disappear into the ether when they go to work, similar to Sims 1. It almost has the appearance of a tablet or phone game, as there is not a lot of content there. I knew before buying the game of course that the world was much different than in 3, but this was so disappointing and almost game breaking to me.
This is an absolute mockery of the best part of the Sims 3, the open world.

I'm not sure how this is reduced from the Sims 3, where the entire town would load and you would be free to move between lots. However, you load between EVERY DIFFERENT LOT YOU GO TO. I know people have said that loading times are reduced. I was absolutely blown away at this part.not in a good way. Upon completion, you are taken to the map of the world to choose a place to live.
The hair options are fantastic, but the fact that you can't truly customize your sims hair or eye colors (you have to pick from about twenty) was disappointing and strange. I created my sim with more options than were available in the demo which was kind of a relief. I started playing last night at 11pm, having preloaded from Origin. Wasn't very impressed with the "premium" extras at all. I only bought the Limited Edition version which was $59.99 as opposed to the $69.99 version which gave you.animal hats for your sims and the soundtrack? Please. I decided to preorder the day before release because I knew I was going to buy it anyway and might as well get the "Life of the Party" dlc. I thought I would do a review for the Sims 4 and let all of you know what I think, as someone who has played since the first Sims and is a huge fan of the franchise. If you played TS2 or TS1 and skipped TS3 I would recommend this game to you. These are indeed my opinions which reflect my play style which is one of mostly building an empty, open world into something my own.

It is a review of my experience, as a fan of the franchise from the first entry into the series until The Sims 3. EDIT Lots of people seem to think this is an unbiased review.
